Top 10 Tips – How To Choose The Best Bridal Lingerie

My wedding day is still vivid in my memory. The stunning gown, the killer shoes, and the overwhelming feeling that this was going to be the best day of my life. I also remember the filthy knickers I was wearing, which were far from ideal bridal lingerie.
I was wearing a boned corseted dress. So, despite having larger-than-average boobs, I didn't need a bra on the top half of my body (one of the many reasons why I love a corset). In terms of bridal underwear, I had paid no attention to it. When it comes to your wedding day, so many other factors take precedence over what lies beneath the surface. After all, only you, your newlywed, and perhaps a bridesmaid or two will see it.
I wish I had considered it. I wish I had done more planning ahead of time. Spending some time shopping on the wedding night may have turned that 'oh crikey' feeling into a 'oooh baby' feeling. So, to avoid making the same mistake, I've compiled a list of ten steps you should take to ensure you have the best bridal lingerie on your wedding day. Here are some suggestions for finding the ideal bridal lingerie.

Size Up
If you've read any of my previous lingerie blogs, you'll notice how frequently I say "size matters." It's time to be truthful to yourself about your weight. Trying to cover lumps and bumps when a size bigger would have done wonders on your wedding day is no fun. There is so much choice out there, whether small or large, that there is no reason to cram yourself into something just because you think numbers matter. What matters is that you look amazing while also feeling at ease and supported.
Measure yourself if you're unsure of your size. Numerous locations provide free, non-judgmental measuring services. Alternatively, you can get a tape measure and do it yourself in the comfort of your own home. What matters most is that you take action.
Get Fitted
If you're still undecided, schedule a bridal fitting. Many bridal lingerie services exist where an expert can show you the options that would look good on your body without pressuring you to buy. Why not bring your bridesmaids along and make a day of it? Try on a few different looks, get some advice, and end with a glass or two of bubbly. You'll know exactly what types of styles you're looking for once you've gotten their advice, and you'll be able to enjoy shopping for your ideal outfit.
Don’t Break a Habit
Consider what you're accustomed to wearing. The day of your wedding is not the time to try out new styles for the first time. It's a day to unwind and know you've got everything under control, not a day to struggle with those hold-ups you've been putting off or to be uncomfortable in a corset you've never worn before.
If you want to try anything new, take the time to familiarize yourself with it before the big day. Wear the corset when shopping or use it in place of your regular tights for office hold-ups. It might not be as horrible as you anticipated, in which case you should go ahead and try it. Or it could be a once-in-a-lifetime experience that you'll never forget, in which case, move on!

Leave It for Later
We all know that our sizes change throughout the year, and brides-to-be will almost certainly lose a few pounds before the big day. It's pointless to buy your lingerie in advance to complete a task. Wait until the last month of wedding planning to ensure that your body size does not drastically change. You want your underwear to fit like a glove, not cause you to stress at the last minute when it doesn't.

Color is Important
Isn't bridal lingerie white? NO! There are so many color options available that it's worth taking the time to find the one that's right for you. Sure, we virginal brides (who are we kidding?) should wear white on our big day, but it isn't always the best option.
If your dress is sheerer, meaning it's made of delicate fabric, or you can make out your form beneath it, white lingerie isn't for you. Put on a bright white panty under this dress, and you'll look like you're wearing it on top. It will contrast with your skin tone and come through in the same way that a bright color or black would.
When it comes to lingerie, ivory tints, pale hues, and flesh tones are your best friends because they won't stick out as much as vivid colors will (and yes, that includes white). You will not be disappointed because there is so much to choose from.
On the other hand, if your dress is made of thicker material or has multiple layers, you have many lingerie options. Play around with bright whites or a dash of something blue.

Consider Your Silhouette
What is the style of your wedding gown? Is it opulent and opulent or sleek and simple? Instead of spoiling the dress line or sticking out like a sore thumb, your lingerie should be a seamless integration to support your outfit.
Consider control wear lingerie or seamless styles to protect the contour and line of your dress if it is smooth and made of delicate material. On the other hand, lace and textured clothes should be avoided because they will show through and disrupt the fabric's smoothness. Take your time and get it properly since you don't want to look back at your wedding photos and see two lacey boobs.

Prepare To Go Strapless
You should consider the design of the dress while choosing undergarments, just as you do with your silhouette. Nothing is more embarrassing than a bra flashing in the middle of your vows.
It goes without saying that if your dress is strapless, you must wear strapless lingerie. Consider, on the other hand, how low-cut your dress is. Half or quarter cup shapes can support while still shielding you from the dreaded flash.
Similarly, consider a convertible bra if you're wearing a strapless or backless dress. It's a great wardrobe staple in and of itself, but it can make your life a whole lot easier when it comes to finding a versatile garment that's perfect for that extra support.

Try it Together
With the dreaded 'flash' in mind, it's crucial to try on your lingerie and dress together. If you're going to a store to get your lingerie, bring your dress with you to the fitting. You have the added benefit of turning your home into your fitting studio if you buy your lingerie online. So please put on your gown, stand in front of a full-length mirror (or your maid of honor), and double-check it from every angle to ensure it's perfect.
